Our Pastor:
Pastor Hans Overduin was ordained as minister of the gospel on November 28, 1986. He served for just over nine years as pastor of the Free Reformed Church in Chatham, Ontario. His second charge beginning on January 26, 1996 was the Chilliwack Free Reformed Church in British Columbia, where he served for about thirteen and half years. Calgary Free Reformed Church in Alberta is now his third congregation, with his ministry beginning here with us on September 4, 2009.
Pastor Hans and his wife, Nelly, have six children, four of whom are married, giving them also the blessing of grandchildren. Pastor Overduin was born in the Netherlands on August 19, 1954. He was blessed with being raised in a Christian and godly home, where the wholly Biblical and Reformed faith and heritage was not only adhered to but heartily and happily treasured.
As minister of the gospel in the Free Reformed Churches, Pastor Overduin also has several responsibilities in connection with the work in the denomination, among others being the main radio pastor of the Banner of Truth Radio Broadcast since June 2000. This is a weekly 15 minute broadcast which is aired on 21 stations, in various continents. See the website of the FRCNA for further details.
The focus of Pastor Overduin’s gospel ministry is to promote the truth of the gospel in submission to all of the Holy Bible, and in line with the helpful Scripture-based summary teaching of the Reformed Confessions [especially the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort]. His passion is that the church where he serves be a living church, a loving church, and a church that is a light in the community, truly “holding forth the word of life” (Philippians 2:16a).
